I understand what you are going through
I know that you want to be back to playing your sport, training or exercising. You're worrying that the problem will get worse, and you'll miss more time doing what you enjoy.
Your niggling pain is probably limiting your life, and getting you down.
Not knowing how it happened, or how to manage it, is really frustrating. Add in a busy life with work and family, and you can end up feeling overwhelmed and stuck with your pain.
Having had lower leg injuries myself, I know how painful it can be, how it limits your ability to just walk or exercise

The face behind Sports & Injury Management
My name is Luke Simpson and I emigrated to Melbourne 12 years ago in search of warmer climates and more exposure to MSK and sporting injuries.
Since then life has changed a lot. I now have a beautiful family and a dog who I love to spend time with. I enjoy watching soccer, rugby (all codes) and playing golf when I get the chance. I have been lucky enough to pass on my soccer experience from Scotland through coaching at Bundoora Utd FC (BUFC) for the past seven years. I held the position of Secretary and Director of Football at BUFC for two years culminating in both Men’s and Women’s team winning their respective leagues, as well as one junior team winning the league and state finals in 2023.

I have been a Podiatrist for 15 years, starting off at NHS Scotland and then moving to Melbourne. I have been fortunate to spend time as a student on placement in London and Hong Kong. I have also volunteered at the 2009 Leicester Special Olympics as a new graduate Podiatrist providing assessments and treatments.
I enjoy all facets of Podiatry, but I have a passion for biomechanics, MSK and sporting injuries. Through this passion I have been able to help thousands of patients with their foot and lower limb problems and get them back to being active and pain free.
I previously worked in a sports focussed clinic in Rowville that also worked in conjunction with the local sports academy. I am a member of ‘Sports and Exercise Podiatry Australia’ and I attend regular professional development to continue to improve and enhance my knowledge.
What it’s like to be a patient at Sports & Injury Management
During your initial assessment, we will take our time. I need you to be able to tell me all about your problem, the concerns you have, and the goals you want to achieve. It’s your time to talk and get your frustrations out - I'm all ears.
Next, I’ll ask questions so I get a clear picture of your problem and overall health. Then I’ll assess your whole lower leg, looking at how you walk or run (if needed), and check your footwear and any orthotics you are using.
Once I understand what has been happening, I can give you an accurate diagnosis of the problem, how it may have happened, and a treatment plan that is going to get you back to doing what you love and living pain free.
Finally, we work together to build a realistic and effective recovery plan. This may involve; taping, a home exercise program, new footwear, modification to your exercise/training regime, rest, orthotics, and onward referrals to other specialists.
Going forwards we will meet regularly to check on progress, your symptoms, and how the recovery plan is working for you. We will make changes as you progress to move you towards your goals, getting stronger, and staying active.
